Overview

Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia (Yayasan IAR Indonesia) is a non-profit organization with a focus on the rescue, rehabilitation and conservation of wildlife. Yayasan IAR Indonesia rescues and rehabilitates orangutans, macaques and slow lorises with the aim to prepare these animals for release back into their natural habitat. Yayasan IAR Indonesia also engages in education, awareness and outreach programmes that convey messages to the public to treat all animals with compassion and care.

Yayasan IAR Indonesia is urgently looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and qualified individual to fill a vacant position as “Grant Management and Liaison Officer”. The selected candidate will be based in Indonesia (Ketapang office preferable but Bogor is an option. To be discussed and decided).

Role Profile

The Grant Management and Liaison Officer will be the primary, Indonesian-Based contact for the IAR Orangutan Conservation Project. This post will work with the Project Leads in Indonesia to ensure efficient and effective communication and coordination, as well as provide technical advice where appropriate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Grant Management and Liaison Officer will support both the Pogramme Director and Programme Advisor in the management of the Foundation’s grant making and reporting. In this capacity, the Grant Management and Liaison Officer will:

(1) Grant Making and Grants Management:

Take responsibility for all grants administration: compiling all data and paperwork for applications, fill in applications, registrations, etc.

  • Obtain in depth knowledge of the ongoing activities for all the Ketapang projects at obtaining regular updates and have a full working knowledge of all the operations run in Ketapang
  • Lead in the report review process, working with the Project team and Project Leads to establish and adhere to donor project descriptions and report deadlines ensuring high-quality donor reports in English
  • As appropriate, aid the Project Leads in proposal development for all existing and potential new Orangutan Projects
  • Assist in identifying possible funding sources
  • Ensure that Yayasan IAR Indonesia adheres to the reporting requirements of the funding partners. That project implementation in accordance with the approved project description
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funding partners, including; Project updates and graphic materials
  • Coordinate reviews of all Project documents in English
  • Lead in ensuring that web-based storage venues, such as Dropbox are accurate and updated regularly
  • Participate in and be an active member of the Yayasan IAR Indonesia Team to provide input into the Foundation’s overall grant making processes, guidelines, and systems

(2) External Liaison:

  • Connect and communicate with potential Orangutan Project volunteers, researchers and interns. Help with the selection process (write advertisements/project descriptions, help with selection based on CV and interviews)
  • Arrange all communications and planning for foreign volunteers and researchers prior to arrival and while at Yayasan IAR Indonesia facilities
  • Arrange and help with necessary permits and paperwork for volunteer and researchers in coordination with the Secretary of the Yayasan and with the administration staff
  • Assist the Programme Director in communicating with funding partners and other external partners of Yayasan IAR Indonesia under the direction of the Programme Director or any of the Yayasan IAR Indonesia Board members
  • Assist in communicating and other arrangements for visitors including; funding partners, film crews, photographers and journalists from abroad
  • Ensure regular, timely communication and coordination between the Project leads in Uckfield-UK and Indonesia

Person Specification

  • Minimum BSc. in conservation, biology or related subject or equivalent experience
  • Proven project management experience in management of conservation projects in Indonesia
  • Understanding of large-scale, sustainable landscape management approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and interpretative problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with the proven ability to multi-task and operate successfully under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proven experience in forging and sustaining strong relationships with donors and stakeholders
